How we rate products

A recommendation is only useful when you can see what it is based on—and what it is not.

Evidence comes first

Every recommendation is assigned an evidence type. Public guides use researched recommendation: analysis of manufacturer documentation, category knowledge, and explicit use-case fit. We do not describe that work as hands-on testing.

Our decision framework

  1. Define the user and job. A product cannot be “best” without a specific need.
  2. Identify decision factors. We focus on specifications and tradeoffs that change a purchase decision.
  3. Separate sources. Manufacturer and merchant information are stored apart from editorial conclusions.
  4. Build a shortlist. We prefer a few meaningfully different choices over a long catalog.
  5. Review claims. Unsupported performance, durability, rating, price, and testing claims are removed.

What a rating does not mean

PIQTIVE does not currently publish star scores. We do not average retailer reviews, copy Amazon reviews, or manufacture a numerical score that implies precision we have not earned.

Future hands-on testing

If a future guide includes physical testing, the page will identify the products tested, methods used, date, limitations, and which conclusions came from that work. Research and testing will remain distinct.
